Credible research in Afghanistan
February 3rd, 2010
In the AIMRI newsletter Synergie (October 2009) our member in Afghanistan Rafiq Ullah Kakar gives an amazing account of research in Afghanistan.
Nearly three decades of war and conflict has left post-Taliban Afghanistan with daunting political, administrative, social, and economic challenges. To overcome these challenges, particularly since the Bonn Agreement in December 2001, the utmost demand for credible and high quality research has been at its peak to provide:
(a) Reliable data to inform policy makers;
(b) Public opinion to inform decision makers in reconstructing and developing the country;
(c) Public views on the rehabilitation and improvement of the infrastructure;
(d) Public support for and expectations from the United States, NATO Forces, the International community and the Government of Afghanistan.
In the year 2005 the dream of establishing ORCA was born in the hearts of five Afghans who possessed technical depth along with professional breadth, leadership and research skills.

Very interesting and informative article.When you think of marketing/social or opinion research, an image of standing on corners quizzing people what they think of washing powder, politics and personalities probably comes to the mind of respondents. But for any consulting company in the field of Opinion & Research should have a difference. We know that decision makers and sponsors don’t just want facts; they want the insights that comes from going behind the numbers, beyond the trends …and between the lines.We at International Field & Tab (www.field-tab.com.pk) feel that AIMRI is providing the right platform to like minded agencies and providing GLOCAL services to clients and sponsors. Best wishes for all colleagues at ORCA.
